Mark Your Calendar: Twin Cities' Augsburg Choir | Arts & Culture
When we receive press releases from music groups about upcoming performances in town, we always wonder what these groups sound like. Augsburg College Choir from Minnesota is touring through Spokane in May so of course we Googled them and found this 2009 performance of the Scottish folk song Loch Lomond.
There's something about the uniform sound of voices that sparks a little emotion. Thankfully that's why headphones were created for the newsroom environment.
The 60-voice a cappella choir has toured all over the United States and the world, most recently traveling overseas to China in 2010.
The thing about school choirs, they're ever-changing. Students graduate and music groups transition into new sounds. The group coming to Spokane will include a repretoire of romantic, American spirituals and world sounds.
Mark Your Calendar: They're performing at Central Lutheran Church, located at 512 S. Bernard Street on Saturday, May 12th at 7 p.m.
