Bedell and Beer: It Just Works | Business

Dreams dashed, hopes shattered and an uncertain future; Eddie Bedell faced it all and yet he remains optimistic. That's because Bedell believes in beer.

Almost a year to the day Bedell stood in front of what was supposed to be his tap house in the Audubon Neighborhood, telling his story of how difficult the City of Spokane had made it for him to realize his dream of becoming a small business owner, Bedell has found success.

Bedell joined forces with his best friend and created Vesuvius Marketing Group. Guess what they specialize in? Beer. Or more specifically Spokane's growing number of breweries and tap houses.

“I don't see too many other people around here trying to help these breweries,” Bedell said. “How cool would it be if I could focus on this type of industry, one I love anyway.”

Vesuvius is a marriage between what was and what can be. Though Bedell wished to open a tap house, he played to his strengths in the rebound and started a marketing group. Bedell went to school for marketing and his partner in the company is a graphic design specialist.

“We just explode with ideas,” Bedell said of their creative collaboration.

This time around, obtaining a business license was easy. Though getting clients has proven to be a little more difficult as the two build their portfolio and trust among Spokane's breweries and tap houses.

They're already working with Budge Brothers on a project and have others in the 'hopper' – if you'll indulge me in one pun.

Despite the long road ahead and countless hours Bedell puts in, he's finally doing what he loves.

“I feel like I can do it all day and not get bored with it,” Bedell said.

His company received recognition by becoming Numerica Credit Union's “Business of the Month” at their Spokane Valley location.
