Ever wonder which wine would pair best with chicken nuggets?

Whitestone Vineyard & Winery will be hosting a junk food and wine day at the Tasting Room downtown. The event will run from noon to 6 p.m. on Saturday, as an “open house thing with food trickling out,” according to general manager/winemaker Michael Haig said.

“The reality is, on most nights, you get done with a frantic day, and you're drinking a glass of wine and you reach over and grab one of your kids' chicken nuggets,” Haig said. “So I thought it would be a good idea to teach people how to pair their wine with the food they have at home.”

The “big three” gameday foods – pizza, nachos and hot wings – will be featured in preparation for the Super Bowl on Sunday.

Haig said the ideal visitor will be someone who loves junk food and wine.

“Those are two of the most American things, and when you throw in football – especially the Super Bowl – it becomes the all-American event.”
