The first of the traffic calming projects is scheduled for construction on Thursday. Funds from the “photo red” traffic citations will fund improvements at the intersection of 17th and Mt. Vernon as requested by the Lincoln Heights neighborhood.

The project is one of seven other projects scheduled for construction this year from the traffic calming applications submitted by neighborhoods in 2010.

When construction starts on August 16, city crews will install new signage, striping, disability curb ramps and catch basin work.

The $101,467 project should last until the 23rd. During that time, traffic will be detoured to Regal and Cook St.

Other projects are expected to start this month, a new light pole at Thor and Hartson, and curb repairs at Walnut and 9th with new striping and basin work as well.
