Straub's council appointment scheduled for September 10 | News

Though the mayor has already appointed Frank Straub as the future chief of Spokane Police, there are a few more hurdles in the way.
Members of city council will have to confirm the mayor’s decision at their September 10 meeting. The submitted resolution recorded earlier this week uses the wording “director of law enforcement” as Straub’s future title.
Because he’s not a commissioned police officer in the state of Washington, city spokesperson Marlene Feist explained Straub will retain the title until he completes his police academy training.
Following his training completion, his title will be changed to police chief. No date has been set yet for Straub’s training.
