A woman died Wednesday afternoon after apparently jumping from a fourth floor apartment that was on fire Wednesday afternoon.
Spokane Fire and AMR crews responded to the Culmstock Apartments, located at 8th and Washington, shortly before 2 p.m. for an apartment fire. When they arrived they found a woman on the ground near the building.
Authorities said the woman jumped from the fourth floor apartment that was on fire. First responders performed CPR on the woman and took her to Sacred Heart Medical Center. The woman died after she arrived at the hospital.
The fire was confined to the single apartment in the building. No one else was injured. The fire did approximately $1,000 in damage.
The call out for the fire happened coincidentally as Spokane Assistant Fire Chief Brian Schaeffer was briefing the media on Tuesday's four-alarm apartment fire at 7th and Lincoln.
